Rajpal Yadav's Debt Case: Businessman Reveals Actor's Emotional Plea and Unpaid Loan (2026)

Imagine pouring your hard-earned money into someone's dream, only to be left high and dry. That's exactly what happened to businessman Madhav Gopal Agrawal, who claims actor Rajpal Yadav owes him a whopping Rs 9 crore. Today, Yadav walks free from Tihar Jail after securing interim bail in this long-running debt saga. But the story behind this financial drama is far from over.

Agrawal, the man behind M/s Murali Projects Pvt Ltd, recently broke his silence in an interview with News Pinch. He recounted how he first met Yadav through MP Mithilesh Kumar Katheria. Yadav, desperate to complete his 2012 film Ata Pata Laapata, pleaded for funding, claiming the project would collapse without it.

Here’s where it gets emotional: Agrawal, who had borrowed the money himself, says he literally cried in front of Yadav, begging for a repayment plan. Yadav’s wife, Radha, even sent emotional messages, pleading for help. Eventually, Agrawal relented, handing over Rs 5 crore.

But here’s where it gets controversial: Agrawal insists this was a loan, not an investment. He claims the agreement clearly stated Yadav would repay the full amount, regardless of the film’s success. Yadav even provided a personal guarantee, Agrawal alleges.

When Yadav failed to repay on time, Agrawal says he was met with excuses and broken promises. Supplementary agreements were made, new cheques issued, but nothing materialized. The situation escalated when Agrawal discovered the film’s negatives and funds were supposed to be released only after completion. He rushed to court to halt the release, but ultimately settled, hoping for repayment.

The film flopped, and Yadav’s cheques bounced. In 2013, with no resolution in sight, Agrawal returned to court. A settlement of Rs 10.40 crore was agreed upon, but Yadav’s cheques were dishonored again.

Agrawal’s stance is simple: He’s a businessman, not a philanthropist. He just wants his money back.

This case raises questions about the risks of lending to celebrities and the complexities of financial agreements in the film industry. Is Yadav a victim of circumstance, or did he knowingly default on his debt? And what does this say about the accountability of those in the public eye?

Let us know your thoughts in the comments. Do you think Yadav should be held fully responsible, or is there more to this story than meets the eye?
