Last October, firefighters were called to a 1 1/2-storey, wood-frame house at 95 Rossland Ave., near Algonquin College, after neighbours reported flames shooting through a window. Kelly was one of two people who escaped the fire, but were seriously injured.

On Nov. 22, Ottawa police reported that Kelly had died from her injuries in hospital the day before.

Naveen Alkhalil, 47, of Ottawa, was charged with first degree murder and four arson-related offences. She was to appear in court on Wednesday afternoon, the Ottawa Police Service said.

In January, police charged 30-year-old Ahmed Hozayen with first-degree murder and four arson-related offences in connection with the Rossland Avenue fire.
