With rain on the horizon, tournament officials decided to close the roof. However, rather than sealing it completely, they left a noticeable gap at the center, which baffled Alcaraz. The 22-year-old expressed his confusion and displeasure, engaging in a dialogue with the umpire and confronting various officials about the decision.
Interestingly, Alcaraz preferred that the roof remain open, as he felt the weather hadn't worsened yet. Commenting on the situation, former Wimbledon champion Pat Cash, speaking for BBC, supported Alcaraz’s stance. "I agree with Carlos — if it's not raining, why keep it closed? He has every reason to be upset," Cash noted, emphasizing the player's frustration.

The Serbian star managed to secure an early break in the fourth game, subsequently claiming the first set and establishing dominance in the match. However, Alcaraz, ranked as the world No. 1, demonstrated resilience by bouncing back in the second set, achieving a crucial break after Djokovic sent a backhand wide.
Before the final, Rafael Nadal had voiced his support for Alcaraz, expressing confidence in his ability to triumph over Djokovic. As a fellow competitor and teammate from previous Olympic events, Nadal shared, "If Novak wins, I will be happy for him because his achievements are remarkable. But if I must pick someone to cheer for, it would definitely be Carlos."
Reflecting on Alcaraz's intense semi-final victory over Alexander Zverev, Nadal mentioned, "The match was dramatic, especially with the cramping issues Carlos faced in the third set. Usually, if you manage to endure them for a bit, they subside — often due to tension. Ultimately, that match had everything necessary to engage and excite both spectators and fans of our sport. Thus, I think Carlos stands a better chance of bouncing back than Novak."
